"This piece shows the history of trans people. The skeleton is drawn in a vaguely medieval style, to represent our past, and it’s reaching for the sun, looking towards a brighter future. The dying plants and moon on the right-hand side represents the darkness and decay that one can feel from not being themselves. And the growing flowers, as well as the sun represent the light and future of our community. Our hope. The flag it tattered and torn, yet it is still worn proudly. The words “Always Here” is the main statement of this piece. We have always been here, and we always will. I want to fight for what my ancestors never had."
