Artist: Josh Ostervold (He/Him - @Felandreki)

About The Art:

"This piece, titled 'Tripolar Mitosis', is a painting studying the trans body, specifically my own. Created during a college painting course, I analyzed the way I have interacted with my body in the past and present, showcasing my body as a fluid form that merges together or splits apart. In painting this piece and depicting my own body in just trans tape and blank underwear, I was highlighting vulnerability and displaying my trans body for others to see and understand. There was no hiding my body from those who see it, as there is nothing wrong with the trans body. It was a piece of pride, and helped further the journey of self-love and admiration for both myself and others. For more information that isn't analysis, it is an oil painting, 4ftx4ft and painted in December of 2024, only edited and made transparent this year in 2025. I included both a transparent background for an ideal shirt image, but I included one with the background if that is something that would be difficult to enact. I also included a variation edited in Photoshop that is more rectangular. The variation, I think, has more of a punk/grunge appeal, but it is more difficult to see the trans tape, which is the whole reason for any of this. Dealer's choice, and thank you for the opportunity. "

Meet The Artist:

"As far as info about me, I am a graduating Fine Art/Emerging Media and Digital Art double major from Southern Oregon University. I’ve been drawing my whole life and painting my way through college, and anticipating a creative arts job no matter where I end up. This artwork was created for one of my life painting classes, and I used photos of me wearing TransTape® as my visual reference. I've been out as trans for about eight years now, and it's definitely a crucial aspect of my identity and the way I live my life."
