BLOG

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and this means something a little bit different for everyone. For some, this means an extra dose of self-love, and for others it's a day of spoiling your significant other. Wherever you fall on the valentine's day sliding scale, make some room for TransTape to join you!

Hello my good friends!

And whoever the rest of you are.

Welcome to the best blog around for learning about TransTape.

In this post, we're going to talk about Valentine's Day!

Some of you just groaned and some of you got excited, I know.

But TransTape is versatile and has many uses, including intimate play time, so it feels appropriate to discuss this right before February 14th.

We will discuss more than intimate play in this post, but if you're here strictly for that content, feel free to skip towards the end for the juicy details!

Not all of us celebrate or partake in Valentine's Day, or February 14th, but that doesn't mean we should ignore the opportunity for some extreme self-love. The topic of self-love has been pretty popular lately, if you haven't noticed, and that's because it's important! 2024 was quite the year and 2025 will come with its own series of events, so it's very important to be mindful of how we treat ourselves as well as others.

So, if you don't care for the Hallmark holidays, at least use it as an excuse to give yourself some extra attention.

Hell, go buy yourself some chocolate or flowers, or whatever you want, you deserve it!

But First, TransTape

If this isn't your first post, you know we have to go over TransTape and what it is.

That's just how the cookie crumbles.

If this is your first time reading, please stick around! This is where I discuss what TransTape is, what makes it special and pretty much all of the basic knowledge you need before understanding how everything is applied and used.

Even if you've used TransTape a few times, I'd still consider giving this section a read. You never know what you'll learn!

TransTape is a compression free alternative to gender affirming gear such as binders, bras, gaffes and harnesses. It was created in 2016 by Kaiyote Jackson, a transgender man, while seeking out binding alternatives.

Like many people, he found binders to be uncomfortable and felt like his movement was restricted. And after some trial and error, TransTape was born and has been changing lives ever since.

And for the record, the Trans in TransTape stands for transformation, not transgender! This is a common misconception with TransTape, but be assured that this product is for anyone, regardless of identity.

The tape is made from a blend of 95% cotton and 5% spandex and uses a hypoallergenic medical-grade acrylic adhesive that is both latex free, and non-medicated. But that's not all, this tape is sweat-proof, water-proof and can be worn for up to 5 days!

Every body is different, but the average length of wear for TransTape users typically falls between 3-5 days. This depends on factors such as activity level, skin sensitivity, and most importantly, the overall comfort of the individual using the product.

The sweat and water-proof aspects of this tape are my favorite things to point out about TransTape. This is because you're able to sleep, shower, work out, among other things, without worrying about it coming off! Products such as binders do not offer this type of freedom, and that makes TransTape extremely special and worth the learning curve.

Yes, learning curve.

As with everything else you try for the first time, there is a learning curve when learning how to apply TransTape.

But before you even apply for the very first time, you gotta do a test strip! This is important because you need to make sure that the adhesive is compatible with your skin before applying large strips of it across your chest or below the belt.

After a successful test strip with no reaction, you are free to apply TransTape and can confidently say that you're not allergic to the adhesive or tape.

Applying and removing may sound self-explanatory, but there are techniques to both and that's why TransTape offers a free online video course as well as the Live HelpDesk chat Monday-Friday on the official website.

And I can promise you that if you're having issues with your application, the HelpDesk will ask you about your test strip. This is to rule out any allergy related causes, so it's best to do your test strip before you sprint into your first application!

Aside from the test strip and learning about proper application techniques through tutorials and the HelpDesk chat, it's also important to understand proper removal. TransTape uses a very strong adhesive and should always be removed with oil. TransTape sells its own removal oil, which contains pure jojoba oil, but other oils, such as coconut and sunflower, are appropriate as well.

Generally, if you can cook with the oil, it's safe to use for removal.

And of course, after a proper removal, it's recommended to take 1-2 full days off from taping to allow your skin time to breathe. During your off days, it's helpful to massage and moisturize the area where you had the tape. In fact, TransTape recommends it so much that they offer a Repairing Salve made from coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax, frankincense oil, cedarwood oil, and monarda oil.

In terms of the basics, I think we've covered it all and can move on.

Self-Love

I conveniently left off talking about taking off days from taping because giving yourself a break is the first step to a successful day of self-love. We're starting with self-love before intimate play because it's a lot harder to feel comfortable in those moments when you struggle with the way you treat and view yourself.

And also because I didn't want to start the post off with too much steam.

But seriously, taking days for yourself is extremely important for your mental health and your physical health.

Paying attention to your favorite hobbies, taking a scenic walk, indulging in a hot bath with stress relieving candles, or reading a book are all great examples of enriching activities.

But it doesn't have to stop there!

Maybe practicing self-love looks like ordering some new TransTape, perhaps in the new XL size or a new color/shade, with oil and salve.

Minus the part where I'm actually spending money, I absolutely love replenishing my TransTape. Even though I typically get the same exact shades and colors, it's fun to pick out my tape and browse the merch (shout-out to the artists who sell their designs on TransTape shirts) knowing that when it arrives, I'll be excited and full of joy.

Self-love could also mean spending time with the people you love and reminiscing about good times you've had together. Connecting with loved ones and your community can give you a sense of belonging and, at least for a lot of us, this feeling heals parts of us we can't describe.

After a long time of not seeing people you care and love for, you might start to forget how much they light up your life. Of course, this isn't always the case, but sometimes it is and I think we should acknowledge that from time to time.

Connecting with other people can be scary, but it can also be magical and help transform your life for the better. If it weren't for one close friend of mine, I wouldn't have ever discovered TransTape and that's something that changed the trajectory of my entire life.

I'm not just saying that as someone who works for TransTape, either. Believe what you'd like to believe, but if I never tried TransTape I wouldn't have had the confidence to do a lot of the things that have aided my personal transformation into the man I am today.

Play with TransTape

Speaking of magical people and things that light up your life, lets finally talk a little about intimate play with TransTape. For people who indulge in Valentine's Day with their partners, you may be excited to learn that TransTape can benefit both of you.

I mean, if it doesn't already.

What I mean by this is that, not only does it boost confidence in the bedroom, it can be used in place of a complicated harness and literally bring you closer together. See what I did there? I'm proud of that.

If you already pack with TransTape, you have a pretty big advantage here over the people who don't pack with it. It's essentially the same concept, even more so if you use an STP (stand-to-pee), with an extra strip of tape or two for better security and stability.

Packing or using TransTape for play removes a barrier that we don't necessarily recognize being there until it's removed. If that doesn't entirely make sense to you, I understand, but hear me out.

Having to wear boxers that have a built in harness, or just a classic harness, can make us feel disconnected from our body and bring on waves of discomfort. When you're in the moment, stopping to put on a harness can kill the mood for you and your partner.

And this is where TransTape comes in.

What if I told you, TransTape made it possible to be ready whenever you and your partner are? What if I told you TransTape made it possible to switch out your packer for a dildo without removing any tape?

Well, I'm telling you both of those things while also reminding you that TransTape is sweat-proof and water-proof.

These things are possible because when packing, or pegging, with TransTape, you use an o-ring that allows you remove or swap out your gear without any issues. This is super convenient for someone who doesn't enjoy using a packer that's also designed for play. Play packers and peckers tend to have more weight to them and are also more firm, which makes them a little more challenging to pack with for some people.

However, depending on the type of packer or pecker you use, some may be a little more difficult than others to take in and out of the o-ring. For example, some STPs have more material that lays on top of your pubic bone, which would make it more difficult to place back into the ring after removing it. Important to keep in mind!

Anyways, back to pegging with TransTape.

Removing the harness and inserting TransTape into your intimate moments has the potential to transform your personal and shared experiences.

Personally, when I pack with TransTape, I feel a lot more connected to myself and my body and I think that feeling transfers exceptionally well into the bedroom.

And you might not be the only one feeling more connected, either. Your confidence and newfound mind-body connection can also improve your partner's experience.

Look at that, TransTape brings people closer both literally, and metaphorically.

If this is something that sounds like a great idea for you, your partner, or both, there could still be time to order some TransTape before Valentine's Day! If not, that's okay, because you don't need a Hallmark holiday to justify wanting to feel closer with your partner.

And please remember to always be safe.

Love for All, Especially Yourself

Love is a beautiful and scary word, but it's also powerful when used in the right way. But loving yourself, and loving those around you, is a lot easier said than done. But like some people say, some tasks become a lot easier when you have the right tools to do them.

Ahem, cue TransTape.

On February 14th, whether you're spending the day by yourself, with friends or the love of your life, remember to express love unapologetically. Tell yourself how much you love yourself, tell your friends how much you love them and of course, tell your partner how much you love them.

Words may, "just be words," but they're often heavy and can impact the people around us more than we may actually realize. Telling someone how much you love them could completely turn their day, or week or month or year or life, around in a matter of seconds.

So, if you love someone, tell them. I think we all need to hear it a little more often these days.

For those of you choosing to keep yourself company on this Hallmark holiday, I hope you're about to buy yourself some fake rose pedals from the dollar store and plan yourself a day of self-love after reading.

For those of you choosing to spend time with your friends, I hope you all laugh from the bottom of your belly about the fun times you've had together and express how much you love and appreciate each other.

And last but not least, for those of you spending Valentine's Day with your romantic partner(s), I hope you both plan a day of all of your favorite things while falling in love all over again, as if it's the first time.
