BLOG

Fitness and TransTape go together like tea and honey. You can have one without the other but you will be missing out on a great experience. A part of me has always enjoyed staying active and finding more things to challenge myself but ever since I found TransTape, that mind, body, spirit connection has never been stronger.

Welcome back, pals!

If this is your first time checking out TransTape and the blog, congratulations!

You are in the right place and hopefully you'll be on your way to finding your freedom in no time.

If this isn't your first rodeo, congratulations anyways!

Cause you officially know where the cool kids hang out.

We've covered a few things in the past such as binding, packing, sizing and so on.

But today is a little different.

Ever since I was a wee little James, I've always loved being active. Whether it was playing soccer, basketball, softball or just climbing anything that I could get my hands on.

But the older I got, the more I started to stray from being active.

At the time, I thought it was because I was changing and that these things are normal as you grow up and that maybe sports just weren't my thing anymore.

We all change as we grow and that's great and encouraged!

But I was also just, uncomfortable. I wasn't sure why I was feeling this way so I started to search for a way to feel like myself, whoever that was.

After high-school I enlisted in the Marine Corps and after a short time with them, I was out on my own and at my absolute lowest.

I didn't feel like me. I almost didn't feel real.

I couldn't figure out what the problem was and it was only getting worse.

After some time flew by, I took another look at myself and I slowly started to wonder, hey, maybe I'm trans.

I hated wearing bras, I didn't like binders, and I surely didn't have the confidence to show off any part of my body. I was stuck in this constant state of discomfort.

I wasn't comfortable with myself and that prevented me from doing so many things that I loved. I stopped exercising, hiking, exploring and I just wasn't myself.

Fast forward some years down that very rocky road and a friend helped me discover TransTape.

To this day I'm extremely thankful for him and I actually met him while I was in the Marine Corps!

It seems like such a small thing, maybe insignificant to some, but to me it was like suddenly I could really see who I was meant to be.

All because of one product, TransTape.

Since finding TransTape, I've really started to discover my true self and along the way I even got to rekindle my old flames with fitness and adventure.

Thank you, TransTape.

But life story aside, let's dive into TransTape and the significant role it plays in an active lifestyle!

What Is TransTape?

As always, let's have a quick review on what exactly TransTape is for the newcomers.

If you're a TransTape veteran, please feel free to skip ahead.

As for you TransTape beginners, please stick around! You may find a few things interesting or even helpful!

TransTape is the original body transformation system and has been around since 2016 when Kaiyote Jackson, the coolest guy ever, created it!

TransTape can be used for chest binding, tucking, packing and I'm sure there are many more uses to come! You can also use it in place of bras, binders, gaffes and other self-affirming products.

There is no right or wrong way to use TransTape, there's only your way!

This unbreakable, irresistible tape is 95% cotton, 5% spandex and made with a latex free, non-medicated medical grade acrylic adhesive.

Even though TransTape is made with hypoallergenic materials, it is always recommended to complete a test strip before fully applying for the first time!

If you've heard of a binder, you may have also heard that you can only wear it safely for around 8 hours. And it just so happens that the coolest thing about TransTape is being able to safely wear it for up to 5 days!

5 days, guys. Did you hear me?!

Those 5 days include everything from showering, working, swimming, sleeping and so much more!

You can do everything in your TransTape. It's water-proof, sweat-proof and adventure-proof!

What more could you really ask for?!

The TransTape team has been and will always be committed to delivering quality products and experiences to all of us.

Waterproof

Have you ever misjudged the weather and ended up very under-dressed for a rain shower? Me too, dude! A few times, actually.
Luckily for us all, TransTape has our back on a rainy day.

Whether you're an Olympic swimmer, certified beach bum or someone who appreciates a hot bubble bath, you're covered!

Even if you're a crazy person who does mud runs for fun like me, TransTape still holds strong!

Aside from being able to wear one application for up to 5 days, being water-proof is arguably the next best thing about TransTape.

One thing that always got to me about wearing binders was that when I took them off at the end of the day, it felt like I lost that confidence all over again and it was always so discouraging.

8 hours was never enough.

Binders, bras and so on are never really intended to get wet either. More often than not, these things are made with materials that absorb and hold on to water. You either take it off, bring a spare or avoid water all together.

It's bad enough when you feel the need to wear something like a binder, but then having to worry about it during a fun water-based activity is a huge bummer.

But guess what?

A little bit of water can't stop TransTape! After getting wet, the tape remains as strong as it was before you decided to take a dip in the deep end.

I've personally never been a huge fan of swimming but I was always so envious of all the individuals who were confident enough to take their shirt off in the water.

It used to seem like such an unachievable thing to me, but that's no longer the case.

Thanks to TransTape, when I'm around water it doesn't even feel right to have a shirt on anymore.

Unlike so many other products, TransTape is designed to survive the toughest and most challenging days without losing its quality.

This tape is made for any individual, no matter how mellow or extreme of a life they live.
Showering in TransTape is probably my favorite thing to do, though. There is nothing more freeing and euphoric than showering with a taped chest and packer.

For me, it's one of the most affirming things about taping. You really get to become one with your mind and body.

I mentioned before how the worst thing, for me, about binders was that once I took it off I lost my confidence and felt like a different person again.

So being able to sleep and shower as my authentic self has done absolute wonders for my life.

But Free Willy certification aside, the wonders this tape offers does not stop at being waterproof.

Sweat-Proof

Do you sweat like nobody's business throughout the day? Or work-out like your life depends on it? Well TransTape laughs in the face of sweat!

Fitness has definitely become a huge passion of mine over the past year or so.

When I began using TransTape, it really allowed me to see myself in a different light.

I finally started looking like, well, me.

That feeling ignited a flame that I thought went out a long time ago and I never looked back. I finally had the opportunity to chase after the person that I was born to be.

With that said, a lot of sweat drops, and teardrops, have tried their best to break through the tape's adhesive.

Did they ever win?!

Nope! And they never will!

Anywhere from 3 to 5 days a week, I workout in my TransTape. I do anything from trail running, weight-lifting, kickboxing and calisthenics.

I always enjoy switching it up and adding some variety to my routines which means I need to be able to trust my gear to keep everything in place.

Even with exercises that really make your chest and back work, like push-ups, bench press and chest flys, the elasticity in the tape moves and works with your body stress free. It doesn't even pull on your skin!

If you feel an uncomfortable pulling sensation, it's possible that you overstretched your tape during the application process. When applied properly, you should have a full range of motion without feeling any discomfort!

If I never tried TransTape, I don't think I would have ever discovered my passion for fitness or try new things that people call me crazy for even thinking about.
I also don't think I would have ever found myself.

With TransTape, the sky is the limit.

Literally, I've gone skydiving in it twice!

Adventure-Proof

Is variety the spice of your life? Do you make spontaneous decisions to go on cross-country road-trips? Do you like long walks in the woods with your dog? If you answered yes to any, or all, of these questions, TransTape could be for you!

Personally, I'm always seeking a new adventure.

I enjoy being outside and challenging myself, whether it's mental or physical.

In 2021 I took it upon myself to pack up and go on a cross-country drive with my trusty sidekick Ares, my dog, to do a little soul searching.

During my journey I discovered that my soul lives out in Montana in the mountains.

It took about 36 hours of driving to get us out to Montana.

Let me tell you, that drive would have been near impossible while wearing a binder.

Hell, I don't think I would have even gone out west if I still wore binders. Plus, my trip was way longer than just 8 hours.

We stopped at many, many rest stops and I never once second guessed the way my chest looked before walking into the men's room.

I actually had comfort and confidence in places I have never been before and that was a miracle all on its own.
This trip helped me break away from my everyday routine and really embrace change and life for what it was.

It's scary to take off and go new places. Especially across the country away from home!

It may have been a little scary but I felt free. I wasn't worried about who would see me shirtless and I didn't care what these strangers thought of me.

All that mattered was unapologetically living in the moment.

Ares and I got to see Badlands National Park, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National park and we even did some shirtless hiking in the Rocky Mountains together!

The adventures don't stop with travel and hiking though!
Have you ever heard of a Spartan Race before?

NO?!

Oh, man.
Well, a Spartan Race challenges you mentally and physically and will likely have you questioning why you ever signed up for it in the first place.

I say that as I'm already signed up for two more races.

As I've said before, I love a good challenge!

The thought of competing against other crazy people like me and being ranked among other men was something I couldn't resist.

Typically, you start off clean like this.

But then, you finish it off looking a little something like this.

I ran the Mount Vernon Spartan 5k Sprint and completed 14/20 obstacles, finishing in the 61 percentile.

For those of you like me, that means I performed better than 61% of people running my event. Me and math stuff don't get along.

I hiked up ridiculous inclines, climbed walls, did over 100 burpees, carried a stone weighing 100lbs, climbed cargo nets, dunked myself under muddy water and hoisted something more than half my body weight at least 15ft above me. And that's just half of it!

This race was far from easy and it truly tested me. And it really tested the tape!

But you know what? I loved every. Single. Second of it. And my tape took it like a champ!
I wore a TransTape athletic shirt along with some inked tape and absolutely thrived while running this event.

Competing against other men was euphoric and helped me realize that the only thing stopping me from reaching my true potential was myself.

Without TransTape I don't think this is something that I would've ever done.

How would any of this race be possible while wearing a restricting binder?

I didn't complete every single obstacle but I proved to myself that I'm capable of anything.

This race put TransTape, and me, through a rigorous test and we both passed with flying colors.

Next up, the Citi Field Spartan Stadion!

Mud proof? Check! Waterproof? Check! Blood proof? Check!

You're kidding about the blood proof part right?

Sure!
TransTape can survive it all, no matter what crazy adventures you're up to!

I know I've personally put it to the test on countless occasions and not once has it failed me.

I mean come on, can anything break our bond?!

Nope! Not even free-falling out of a plane 14,000ft in the sky at 120mph!

The real question is, does anyone wanna go skydiving with me? Let's go!

Convinced Yet?

No matter who you are or what kinda life you live, there's a pretty good chance that TransTape will blow your mind if you give it the opportunity.

My life has changed for the better since discovering TransTape and I can only hope it does the same for someone else out there.

I continue to test the limits of TransTape and it never ceases to amaze me.

I'm starting to run out of crazy things to do in it!

I use this product nearly every day and without it, I think my life would be a lot different.

And probably a lot more boring.

Before trying it for the first time I was really skeptical of how well it would actually hold up. It seemed too good to be true that another safe binding option existed, let alone an option that allowed me to shower, hike and just live without restraint or time limits.
But I gave it a chance and it was one of my better, and smarter, decisions.

Finding the right application technique for myself definitely took a lot of trial and error but that feeling of freedom was always there, even the first time.

There's nothing like feeling like yourself for 24 hours a day instead of 8 and TransTape gives you that opportunity.

Life becomes a lot more bright and colorful when you start loving yourself.

And it's never too late to start.

Until next time,

Stay awesome.

Stay beautiful.

Stay you.

You are loved and it gets better.

Talk to you soon,

Jamie

Welcome to the cool kids club!

My name is Jamie and I'm a young (ish) transman born and raised in the Hudson Valley of New York state. I started my transition in May of 2017 and since then, I've made it my mission to live unapologetically as myself and spread awareness through my pursuit of happiness. I am the creator and writer of Spilling T blog, a proud affiliate of TransTape and when I'm not outside with the best dog ever or hanging out with my two cats, I make and sell my own beard care products through Buckaroo's Beard Care. I'm always looking for my next adventure and have been skydiving, road-tripping, hiking in the mountains and even served for a short time in the United States Marine Corps. My life has had its fair share of twists and turns and I hope to use those experiences to create helpful and relatable content that may help someone else navigate a difficult time in life.
