One of the most common questions asked regarding TransTape is how long one roll will last. This is a tricky question, because we're all going to apply our tape differently, but it's not an impossible one. Although I'm only able to give you an approximate answer for how long a roll lasts me, after reading this post you should have a general idea on how long a roll may last for you.
Hello, my beautiful monsters!
I mean monsters in the most loving of ways, I promise.
We're gathered around our screens today to learn more about TransTape.
Shocker.
Believe it or not, there's a pretty accurate way of determining how long a roll will last you.
And with that said, I have some good news and some bad news for you.
Bad news, you gotta do math.
Good news, it's relatively simple math.
Whatever simple math is supposed to mean.
If you're not a fan of math, like myself, fear not.
I'm going to take you step by step through the process and explain the why's and how's of it all.
But first.
Recap.
Please don't skip the recap if you're new to TransTape, this could be super helpful!
Plus, I work hard on these blogs, people.
Have you ever cursed the air around you while using your gender affirming gear?
Maybe it pinches, maybe it squeezes, maybe it's restrictive, maybe all of the above.
Regardless, you may be eligible for euphoric compensation through the use of TransTape.
In all seriousness, TransTape is the ORIGINAL Body Transformation System and uses skin-safe body tape to deliver gender euphoria by replacing binders, bras, gaffs and other gender affirming products.
The tape is made from a blend of 95% cotton and 5% spandex paired with a hypoallergenic medical-grade acrylic adhesive that is latex-free and non-medicated.
Phew, out of breath.
Unlike other products, like binders which have 8 hour time limits, you can wear TransTape safely for 3-5 days, through the night and in the shower!
The length of time you can wear TransTape varies between individuals and their preferences, as well as the quality of the application and relationship between their skin and TransTape's adhesive.
Also, don't you dare forget to do a test strip before applying TransTape for the first time.
I mean it.
Ugh, I hate math.
But unfortunately, it's kinda useful in this situation.
At least you're finally using that math from school though, right? Right?
Alright, well first things first.
We gotta measure the tape.
Lucky for us, TransTape has already done that!
Each and every roll of TransTape contains 16.5 ft of tape (5 meters for the rest of the world).
The reason we want to know this is because once we determine how much tape we use during every application, we're able to figure out how many applications we can get out of each roll.
And from there, we determine how long one application lasts for us on average. But let's not get too ahead of ourselves and take it one step at a time.
Since we now know that each roll of tape contains 16.5ft (5m) worth of tape, we can move on to the next step.
Now, let's measure the length of each section of tape.
By section, I'm referring to the space between the solid lines, not the dotted ones.
Here, I'll do it for you.
One section, or bold line to bold line, is about 2in (5cm).
Now that we know the length of each section, it's time to determine how many sections of tape we use for each application.
This is where our answers are going to start being different, so don't worry about your numbers matching mine. There's a good chance our applications are different!
For me, I use two 2.5 section (5 sections total) strips and two 3 section (6 sections total) strips.
Which gives us a total of 11 sections worth of tape per application.
Now take the amount of sections you use per application and multiply that by the length of one section of TransTape.
11 x 2in = 22in or 11 x 5cm = 55cm
So, for each of my applications, I'll use about 22in worth of tape.
Now, take that answer and divide it into 16.5ft (5m) and this answer will be the amount of applications you will get out of one roll.
But first, to make it a little easier, 16.5ft (5m) is equal to 198in (502cm).
So.
198in / 22in = 9 or 502cm / 55cm = 9
Based on my application technique, I will get roughly 9 applications out of one roll.
Look at me now, teaching math and stuff.
These numbers are also rounded down to the nearest whole number to give a more accurate estimate.
Now that we know how many applications we'll get out of each roll, let's figure out exactly how long the roll will last us.
How do we figure that out?
I'll show and tell you!
My applications last me no less than 5 days worth of activities and showers.
So hypothetically with simple numbers, if I got 5 applications out of a roll, that means I'll get about 25 days of taping per roll.
5 applications x 5 days each = 25 days of taping
That's almost an entire month!
But let's see my real number!
9 applications per roll x 5 days for each application = 45 days of taping
That's almost 2 months worth of taping!
When estimating the length of time a roll will last you, try to account for at least one 24hr rest period between each application, as well as the occasional "whoops," where you end up using some extra tape. This way, you'll get a more accurate idea of how long your roll will last!
And this same concept can be applied to packing and tucking as well!
No matter what type of application you're doing, the rolls will always come with 16.5ft (5m) worth of tape.
And if you do change up your technique, which could be for an assortment of reasons, all you have to do is adjust for how many strips of tape you use!
And that's it.
Every roll of TransTape contains 16.5ft (5m) or 198in (502cm) worth of tape.
Every section of TransTape is 2in (5cm)
Determine how many sections you use per application.
Length of each section (2in or 5cm) x # of sections you use = Amount of tape used per application.
Divide the length of a roll 198in (502cm) by the amount of tape you use in each application.
198in (502cm) / Length used per application = How many applications you will get out of one roll.
Determine the average amount of days your applications last.
# of applications per roll x # of days each application lasts = How long one roll of TransTape will last you.
See, that wasn't so bad right?
I hope not, because I'm actually going to take it one step further and breakdown the price of a roll and how much it ends up being per day.
Mind blown, I know.
I use the medium size, so these numbers are going to be based off the price of one medium sized roll of TransTape in US Dollars.
1 medium roll of inked TransTape costs $16.
1 roll of TransTape gives me 45 days of taping.
So.
$16 / 45 = $0.36
This means TransTape costs me 36 cents for every day that I wear it.
Let's try another problem, how much does each application cost me?
$16 / 9 = $1.78
Each application of TransTape costs me $1.78.
For me and the way I apply TransTape, it costs me less than $2 per application.
I don't know about you, but that's a pretty amazing price.
I know I've been throwing a lot of numbers at you today, but does it all make sense?
It might seem a little overwhelming at first, especially if you've never applied before, but hopefully I've given you the tools to success.
And if you've never applied TransTape before and want to get a general idea of how long it will last you, there are a couple things you could try.
You can measure your chest and guess about how many inches (or cm) of tape you might need, and use that number to figure out how long a roll might last you.
Or.
You can watch a few different application videos by people with similar body types and base your calculations on how many strips they're using.
But whether or not you decide to crunch some numbers before your first purchase, TransTape still has your back when it comes to helping you with applications.
You also don't have to be a first time taper to get some help, either!
TransTape offers a FREE online Video Course on the website that has A TON of videos on everything from how it started, application videos, and tips for removing the tape.
And more!
And if that's not your thing or you need more of a one on one coaching, they offer that too!
You can reach out through the chat, Monday through Friday, to the HelpDesk and someone will reach back out to you as quickly as possible.
And it's an actual person who has used TransTape before that will reach out to you, not a robot with automated responses!
And still, if a one on one chat isn't doing it for you, you can schedule a live video chat (as long as you're 18+) with the HelpDesk and have someone walk you through it in real time.
Both live chat assistance and video chat assistance is requested through the live chat box on the TransTape website.
We're happy to help you, so take advantage of it!
Trying something new can be scary.
But that's why TransTape is around to help you in as many ways as possible.
For free too, even the video consults!
And if you came to this post trying to determine whether or not TransTape is worth it, hopefully I've given you some information to help you make that decision.
If not, I'm sorry I failed you.
But in all seriousness, it can be really helpful to determine how cost effective something is for you.
