TransTape is a product that has the potential to reinvent the way you use gender affirming products in your life. Whether you're looking to get rid of binders, bras or packing/tucking underwear, TransTape can be of assistance. Having a great product without the proper knowledge on how to use it isn't very helpful, though. And this is why TransTape offers free educational workshops and live helpdesk assistance!
Hello, good people of the internet!
And the other people as well, I guess.
Last month we got a little educational and learned about Stonewall and LGBTQ+ History month.
Today, we're going to get a little educational again but this time it's all about TransTape!
TransTape is a wonderful thing, as most of us know by now, but a wonderful thing without wonderful education isn't very helpful.
What good is a light-bulb without electricity?
What I'm getting at is, if you don't know how to properly use something, it won't do you any good.
Lucky for you, TransTape understands this and offers free educational workshops!
As well as free one on one assistance on the website through the helpdesk chat!
We're going to talk about both of these things and more.
But first.
We gotta recap.
And you know the drill by now, if you've been using TransTape for a while, you can go ahead and skip this section.
I might cry, but that's fine I guess.
But if you're new to TransTape, this little recap could be helpful!
Stick around and find out!
TransTape is the ORIGINAL Body Transformation System!
And in case you didn't know, transformation is where the Trans in TransTape comes from!
More often than not, it's assumed that TransTape is only for people who identify as transgender. But that's just not the case at all!
TransTape is an all-inclusive, compression free, gender affirming product that can be used in place of things like binders, bras, compression clothing, gaffes and harnesses.
Users are free to live, laugh, love to their hearts desire.
You can wear TransTape for multiple days at a time, the average is usually about 3-5, and you're able to sleep, shower, sweat and swim as your authentic self!
The name of the game is gender euphoria for all and TransTape is out here taking names.
TransTape is made from a blend of 95% cotton and 5% spandex.
And this fantastic blend is accompanied by hypoallergenic, medical-grade, acrylic adhesive that is latex free and non-medicated.
TransTape strives to provide the best experience for all users by using quality materials, but this doesn't guarantee that it will be the right product for you and your body.
Now, what do I mean by that?
What I mean is, everybody is different and our bodies can react to materials, no matter how great the quality is, differently.
This is totally normal and completely okay, by the way! It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you OR your body!
I know that's not the answer we ever want to hear when we're in search of gender affirming products, but it happens. And that doesn't mean you should give up your search for the right product for YOU, either!
But the easiest way for you to see if TransTape is right for you is with a test strip.
We're all doing the test strip, right?
RIGHT?!
We're not all using it and I know that for a fact, so let's talk about it!
If you didn't know, the test strip is this not-so-mythical thing that all the best people take the time to do before applying TransTape for the very first time.
And you're one of the best of the best, right? Yes, you sure are.
All you have to do is cut a piece of TransTape as small as 1" x 1" (2.5cm x 2.5cm) and apply it to a part of your body that you are able to easily monitor for 24 hours.
Arm, wrist, thigh, chest, wherever it will be visible to you throughout the day!
You're monitoring for any redness, tenderness and overall discomfort.
Keeping the test strip small makes it easier to avoid overstretching and other common application accidents that could show similar signs to an adhesive reaction.
If you're looking for a better step by step breakdown, check out this other blog post I made a while back!
Now that we've gotten that recap out of the way, let's talk education.
What exactly is an educational workshop?
An educational workshop is when TransTape's Education and Outreach Coordinator Quyen Tran packs her bags and comes to you to help spread the great news of TransTape.
A little more about Quyen.
Quyen has been a TransTape user for over 5 years and originally used it for performing as the Drag King Jayden Jamison!
After using TransTape during performances, she began to use it while hiking and swimming through national parks.
Which led to, before officially coming on board with TransTape, introducing TransTape to aspiring drag performers in her drag king workshops!
Being visible on stage while wearing TransTape is both empowering and inspiring.
Which is why Quyen is more than happy to help people who are 18+ figure out the best way to tape for their body.
She actually helped me pack with TransTape for the first time!
If you're a retail store, a college campus or a gender affirming clinic, hosting a workshop could be in your best interest.
If you're a retail store interested in selling TransTape, or just spreading awareness, you can reach out through the HelpDesk to inquire about wholesale options and education workshop opportunities.
Like mentioned before, these workshops are free.
And they will ensure that your customers are properly using the product.
As for college campuses, the same thing goes!
If your campus provides gender affirming products to students in need, or is open to hosting a gender affirming workshop, TransTape would love to collaborate!
Having Quyen travel to your campus for a free educational event is invaluable and will encourage students to express themselves authentically and engage with other students who are within the TransTape community.
Last but not least, if you're a medical professional or work at a gender affirming clinic, you can host an educational workshop for clients as well as your staff!
Whether you provide TransTape to clients or simply suggest it, hosting a workshop will better equip the staff as well as provide opportunities for community engagement and gender euphoria in a safe space.
Again, these invaluable workshops are hosted by Quyen and are absolutely free for you and your business/school/clinic.
She travels to you, all you have to do is provide the space and spread the word!
Learning how to properly apply TransTape requires a lot of patience and comes with a learning curve, which is why it's amazing that TransTape offers these workshops.
Quyen truly believes in the product and loves spreading the joy of gender euphoria.
If you're not a business owner, a student on a welcoming campus or someone connected to a gender affirming clinic, there are still ways for you to learn!
TransTape offers a free video course on their website!
To find the free video course:
Navigate to the TransTape website
Hover over the "Learn" tab
Select "Video Course"
Watch as many videos, as many times as you want, for free!
Providing a free video course is one of the many things that separate TransTape from competitors.
In the Video Course, you will find application videos for different sized chests, proper removal, do-it-yourself nipple guards, the milk of magnesia technique and plenty of other videos that will help you through the learning curve of TransTape!
A lot of companies may provide basic instructions for their products, but TransTape went a step further and provided an entire video library that can be accessed at any point by anyone.
Unsure if TransTape is for you?
Check out a few videos and listen to other people's experiences.
Unsure about your application?
Cross reference with some other techniques!
Having removal issues? Irritation?
Refer to the videos!
Maybe you're not a video person or a blog reader, although that makes this a little awkward since you're reading a blog, that's totally cool!
Because the free education and assistance doesn't end with a free video course or free workshops.
TransTape also offers free 1 on 1 assistance through the HelpDesk!
If you're struggling with your application, or maybe just have a general question about TransTape, you can reach out to the HelpDesk!
Here, someone who is experienced with TransTape, most likely Beau who is the Customer Relations Manager, will reach back out to you and give you 1 on 1 assistance over chat or video (18+)!
Whether you're stuck on step 1 of the process or are having issues somewhere in the middle, someone at the HelpDesk will be there for you!
Please be patient with response times, this is only Monday through Friday and not 24/7! You can reach out at any time, but you will only receive responses during the week and not the weekend!
Learning something new can be stressful and there's nothing wrong with admitting that.
I hate not being immediately perfect at something completely new to me, even though nobody is good at something when they first try it.
And something like TransTape isn't as "simple" as learning a new word or recipe, it requires being intimate with yourself and confronting the parts of you that may bring about discomfort.
I get it, dude. I really do!
If you're using TransTape, there's a good chance you're interacting with a part of your body that isn't your favorite.
For me, that's mainly my chest.
I'm not as bothered by using tape to pack, which is odd in my own personal opinion of myself, but my chest brings a totally different vibe.
There are days where taping doesn't seem possible, and that's okay.
Taping can always wait!
I know some of you scoffed at that, but it's true.
Taping can wait a few hours or even days, caring about your mental well-being is way more important than forcing yourself to work with a part of your body you're not comfortable with at the moment.
If you're having a moment, walk away from the tape and come back later.
Give it a few hours and check back in.
If you're feeling better about it, go for it!
If not, wait a little longer or until the next day.
It's not the end of the world!
And if you find yourself struggling with your application every single time, regardless if it's a mental struggle or technical struggle, you can always reach out to the HelpDesk!
And you can also request that your local clinic, local college campus or local gender-affirming product retail store reach out to TransTape about hosting a free TransTape Educational Workshop!
Life is crazy.
But you're never truly alone.
Until next time,
Stay awesome,
Stay beautiful,
Stay you.
You are loved and it gets better.
Talk to you soon,
Jamie
My name is Jamie and I'm a young (ish) transman born and raised in the Hudson Valley of New York state. I started my transition in May of 2017 and since then, I've made it my mission to live unapologetically as myself and spread awareness through my pursuit of happiness. I am the creator and writer of Spilling T blog, a proud affiliate of TransTape and when I'm not outside with the best dog ever or hanging out with my two cats, I make and sell my own beard care products through Buckaroo's Beard Care. I'm always looking for my next adventure and have been skydiving, road-tripping, hiking in the mountains and even served for a short time in the United States Marine Corps. My life has had its fair share of twists and turns and I hope to use those experiences to create helpful and relatable content that may help someone else navigate a difficult time in life.
